In November 2023 Sophie’s debut orchestral suite ‘Selene’s Awakening’ was performed by the Bristol Met Orchestra at St Georges Bristol. This suite of music was Bristol 247s ‘Cultural Highlight of the year.’ The piece was performed one again by the orchestra, AvonConcordia in 2025.

Most recently Sophie recorded and toured with Matt Stockham Brown’s 6161. Described as: ‘A surge of fiercely drum led  and brass heavy alt jazz, with some of the UKs top players’ the band has received critical acclaim from Mojo magazine, Jazzwise magazine, BBC radio 2,3,6 to name a few.

2026 will see the release of Sophie’s final String and saxophone EP ‘Nova.’ Sophie’s compositions are a mix of contemporary classical music and chamber jazz, in which she explores the jazz and classical crossover realm.

Sophie’s strong incisive signature sound makes impressive use of space and melody.

We live in a time when almost everything has already been said. Again and again there are artists who are looking for something new. They try to find new expressions, phrases…. An example of this is this album. Sophie Stockham has really succeeded in creating a unique work that is second to none.‘ – Jazz.de
